Alzheimer's Australia Vic has announced a new 'game' that is being designed to help patients who are suffering from dementia. The Forest Project currently has a crowd-funding campaign up at Pozible, where it hopes to raise $90,000 over the next 60 days. So far, it has already earned a few hundred dollars. Opaque Multimedia's co-founder, Norman Wang, spoke a bit about how this project works, as well as the team's end goal if fundraising and testing are successful.

The objective of The Forest Project is to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia by escaping from the monotony of their living spaces. Future expansions will include more locations, interactions and preferences. Our eventual goal is to put The Forest Project in every aged care facility in Australia, and similar facilities all over the world.

This software will use the Unreal Engine 4 to achieve its virtual settings. Jay Wilbur, the vice president of Epic Games, stated that he was excited about this project, and proud that the company's game engine would allow the team to see the realization of their vision. Wang stated that his team chose Unreal 4 due to its “versatility and flexibility,” allowing the team to shape it for this special project. More information regarding Opaque Multimedia's efforts can be found on their website.
