"The Following" returns for its second season this month, and on Friday, Jan. 10, we posted a video interview with executive producer Marcos Siega and new cast member Connie Nielsen teasing what to expect.
Nielsen is playing the new character of Lily Gray in "The Following" season 2, an art dealer and downtown girl (and possible new love interest) who is "complex," "has a very interesting background and has a very rich personality," the actress teased. "She's basically a victim of an event that happens in the first episode that kind of launches season 2, sort of our inciting incident," Siega explained. "She survives an attack in New York that's fairly horrific and when you watch it, I grew up in New York, that could actually happen, and that's what's terrifying. But she survives that, and that's how we meet her. She connects with Ryan in a really interesting way and I think that sort of launches her character."
It is really no secret that James Purefoy is back as Joe Carroll for season 2 (and hasn't been for a while), but this year, we'll see a different Joe Carroll. "Where we go in season 2 will excite the Joe Carroll fans because [we'll] see what happens to a man when his plan fails and how he picks himself up," the EP said.

"The Following" season 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on FOX, with a special preview on Jan. 19.
