In last week’s episode, Joe announces to the world that he is back and has a big coming out party that involves many deaths to celebrate it.
In this week’s episode, titled “Teacher’s Pet”, Joe sends his army loose as they start the war. Meanwhile, Claire wants out of witness protection and wants to kill Joe and Ryan continues his search for Joe.
We see what happened at the ER after the stabbing at end of Season 1 but from Claire’s POV. We see that she was asked to go into Witness Protection so to protect Joey. She was reluctant to leave Ryan, but did in the end.
Claire tells Mike that she doesn’t want to keep running. She wants to have Joe dead so that she can live peacefully. Mike tells her to go back into hiding, but we all know that Claire doesn’t like to go quietly.
Joe meets with the his new followers and incites them to follow in his footsteps. He sends off the ‘troubled’ group that Micah had kept separate from the main group and has them off committing random murders. The first two murders go smoothly, but things go south during the third one, where one of them almost reveals Joe’s location to Ryan before her partner killed her before getting killed himself.
For the ones that need persuading, he continues teaching them about the glory of death. A woman objects and obviously this doesn’t spell good news for her. A few others follow her out, including Mandy.
Mandy and Emma are still at ends, arguing over Joe’s affections. They don’t trust each other and Joe tries to be the buffer in between the two of them. They fight over what happened in the day. Emma wants Mandy to respect her but Mandy says Emma’s threatened by her.
We get to see the beginning of Joe’s and Strauss’s relationship. How Strauss took him in and started teaching him how to kill people and the power you feel when doing it.
Ryan meets with Strauss to try and get names of the other ‘students’ he has. He thinks Joe is trying to target the other students into joining him. The questioning doesn’t go well for Ryan causing Ryan to make a bold move to get Joe’s attention. And it works, which obviously angers Joe.
Mike returns to them and lies about where he was. Max catches him in the lie but doesn’t press him about his whereabouts.
In next week’s episode, Lily Grey returns and tries to break out Luke from the hospital. She uses a mass killing to hide her breakout. Meanwhile, Claire compromises the investigation believing that she can help Ryan catch Joe.
