Show opens with a man dressed as Edgar Allan Poe, reciting ‘The Raven’. He tosses graffiti in the air on to the crowd. He takes out a gas of gasoline and lights the man on fire from the end of episode 2.
Claire has a dream of Joe killing her. She asks for Ryan but he left.
Ryan arrives at FBI headquarters. Debra says there were 9 prints in the house. She says there is nothing that tells where Joey is. Debra asks what Joe’s message could be. Ryan says that Joe was very inspiring as a teacher. 2003. Ryan is watching him teach a class. Present. Debra gets a call saying Jordy is awake.
Ryan/Debra goes to visit Jordy. He says he won’t talk. He says it was worth killing the girls. Ryan brings up Joe being upset with him. He starts singing to tune Ryan out who’s trying to find out where Joey is.
The FBI watch the show of the burning man. The victim is Stan, a book reviewer. Ryan says that Stan gave Joe’s book a bad review.
Jacob/Paul watch the news about them being a cult. Jacob talks to Paul about Emma. He shows Jacob the video of the burning. 2010. The group meeting in the attic where six of the people are talking about how they will kill their victims. Present Day. Paul says he doesn’t trust her.
Mike says he got the killer, his name is Rick, and was able to get his car and his address.
They all go to his house. In the closet, a woman pops out with a knife, she says that her name is Maggie, Rick’s wife.
Debra/Ryan meets with Maggie. She says that they are separated. She says she thought they were him. Ryan asks about a police report that she had filled out. He had tried to kill her. She says that he stabbed her because she asked for a divorce. She says he started hanging out with new friends after he lost his job.
Debra/Ryan talk about their conversation. Debra says she will talk to Joe.
Paul goes to talk to Emma. Paul offers a truce, but Emma slices his arm, she warns him not turn Jacob against her.
Debra meets with Joe. She asks about why critics. 2010. Joe is meeting with Rick. Rick says he wants to target people for revenge. Present Day. Joe says that he’s not above revenge. Every story needs it. He says there is only three people who he holds responsible for his downfall. He starts taunting Ryan through the camera.
Ryan goes to the Debra’s office. Ryan says that the 3rd guy is the dean of his college that had denied him ten-year.
The dean goes to his office where Rick is waiting. He asks why Joe was denied ten-year. Rick stabs the dean. He continues to stab him until he dies.
They investigate the dean’s office. Debra talks to Ryan. Ryan says he should have known. He walks away from her. 2003. Ryan meets with Joe. He talks to him his expertise on Poe.
Jacob takes a picture of Emma and Joey. Paul wraps up his cut. Joey asks about going home. 2010. Emma says that Jacob and Paul need to pose as a gay couple to get close to Sarah. She encourages Paul and Jacob to kiss. Jacob is willing to, but Paul is reluctant. Present day. He takes the car keys and leaves.
Mike and Ryan talk bout Rick’s credit records and find something interesting.
Claire gets a call from Ryan. She says that toys are a good thing because that means they aren’t hurting Joey.
Ryan brings Maggie the credit card records. She gets a call from Rick. Ryan tells her to put it on speaker phone. She says that the FBI is looking for him. He says that he did it for Ryan.
Mike says they can’t trace call. Troy takes Maggie home and stays with her. Debra tells Ryan to go and rest. Ryan says that Rick knows where Joey is. Mike offers to go with him.
Jacob and Emma talk about Paul. She is worried that Paul will go into town. She is frustrated that no one is doing what they are supposed to do.
Paul is at a convenience store. He starts flirting with the female clerk. He asks her when she gets off.
Troy and Maggie arrive at her house. Mike calls Troy and says that he and Ryan are outside. Ryan figures out that Mike was told to watch over him. Him and Mike talk. Ryan has enough and exits the car. 2003. He goes to talk with Joe about the murders. He gives Ryan a book of Poe’s works.
Paul is making out with the clerk, Megan. She tells him that she won’t have sex with him. He starts to choke her and she wants to leave. When going to the car, he bangs her head into the car until she passes.
Debra talks with Jordy. She says that Joe wants to see him. She says that if he talks to her, she will let him see Joe.
Troy tells Maggie that he’s divorced. There is a banging outside. Troy investigates. Troy tells Mike that there is someone in the back yard.
Jordy says that he’s not sure he can trust her. He says he doesn’t know where Joey is. He says Emma/Jacob/Paul took Joey. He say that Maggie knows where Joey is, that her and Emma planned that part.
Mike gets a call from Debra saying that Maggie is one of them.
Troy says that she’s getting a message that says ‘now’ and she stabs him in the throat. She goes to the back door where Rick is. 2010. It was a dare for him to stab her. Present day. Ryan/Mike come in to try and help Troy. Ryan goes after them. Ryan shoots Rick before pointing the gun at her. Rick starts to tackle Ryan before Ryan shoots him again. Ryan goes back to the house to find that Troy is dead.
Jacob/Emma go to the kitchen to see that Paul brought Megan home. Jacob says he will talk to Paul. He asks if Emma knows how big of a liar that Jacob is. 2011. They were drinking and started making out.
Debra tells Ryan she’s mad because Maggie fooled her. 2003. Joe gives Ryan his book. They talk about how Ryan must be lonely. Present day. He tells Debra that Joe fooled him too.
Jordy says sorry before starting to eat his pad and choking himself to death.
Ryan goes to see Claire. She says she got an email. The email is showing Joey how to kill a bug. Joey doesn’t want to, but he does, killing the rat. Claire says that they are teaching Joey how to kill.
What we learned/new notes
-There are still two people left unknown from the 9 sets of fingerprints in the house. We have seen him, but don’t know his name.
-What is Paul’s purpose of kidnapping Megan? Is it for Joey’s purposes or something different?
-is there anything else that Jacob is keeping from Emma?
-Emma is slowly showing herself that she is now in charge. How far will it go before she’s challenged?
-Maggie shows that’s very conniving, being able to trick the FBI. She shows that she’s dark, being able to kill Troy with no problems. Also, she will be looking to seek revenge against Ryan for him killing Rick.
-It’s quickly becoming a show where you don’t know how deep this cult goes and where no one seems to be safe.
