The Flying Pig: are you ready to get your oink on?

Mom’s get your running shoes ready! Spring is almost here and the Flying Pig Marathon is just around the corner! And there is something for the entire family! If the marathon is not for you, they have a Flying Pig half-marathon, City Dash 4 person relay, Toyota 10k run/walk, Fleet Feet Sports 5k run/walk, Pump N’ Run 5k, Hope and Possibility 5k, Ernst and Young Flying Pig Kids Marathon (1 mile run), and The Flying Piglet Kids Fun Run. Or you can volunteer to help. If you would prefer to walk, walking is allowed in all of the Flying Pig events.

It is a weekend of fun starting with P & G’s Health and Fitness Expo Friday, April 30, 2010 where you can pick up your registration race packet . The 10k, 5k, and kids runs will be held on Saturday, May 1, and the Marathon and half marathon, and 4-person relay will be held on Sunday, May 2. Finishing it off with the post race party from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Not sure where to begin? If you are just starting out you may want to choose to walk the 5k. If you are interested in running check out Runnersworld.com’s 8 week training program. It may not get you ready for the Flying Pig, but there are a lot of races coming up and with nicer weather on the way it will be great to get outside with your family. Make sure you do not push yourself to hard to fast to prevent injury.
