If you don't watch the Late Show with David Letterman, tonight would be a fine time to start. Why you ask? Because The Flying Karamazov Brothers will be featured on the show every day this week!
Who are The Flying Karamazov Brothers and how do you pronounce their name? Well, to answer the second question, it's a Russian name that is in reference to the 1880 philosophical and dramatic novel "The Brothers Karamazov" by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. It is pronounced kara-mat-zof (I don't speak Russian or know how to properly write words phonetically, so that will have to do). Think of it this way: take the "cara" from caramel, the "mat" from matzo, and the "zov" from Marakazov.
In any case, The Flying Karamazov Brothers (FKB) is a juggling comedy troupe originally from Santa Cruz, California. They've been around since the 1973 and are nothing short of hilarious. The make-up of the troupe has changed over the years, but it now consists of four members (Dmitri, Pavel, Alexei, and Zossima) who are not actually brothers at all.
The troupe will star on the Letterman show for about 30 seconds each night this week right after the commercial break. If you can't be bothered to watch the whole show to see them, tune in at around 11:45pm. Otherwise, tune in to CBS at 11:30pm (when the show actually starts).
