If you're wondering why Google's logo has been replaced with a doodle of "The Flinstones" on their homepage, it's because the classic animated sitcom is turning 50 today! To help commemorate this milestone, 24-hour cartoon network Boomerang will be broadcasting the first-ever episode, in addition to an all-day marathon set for Sat., Oct. 2.
"The Flinstone Flyer" will air on Thurs., Sept. 30 at 8:30/7:30c, the exact date and time that the show premiered back in 1960. They will follow that up with two additional episodes, followed by the movie "A Man Called Flinstone."
The 24-hour marathon will kick off on Sat. at 6am ET, featuring 50 of the best 'Flintstones' episodes. CartoonNetwork.com will also feature a free online game to help celebrate the event called "Bedrock Bowling," which can be played here.
"The Flintstones" ran from Sept. 30, 1960 to April 1, 1966 on ABC.
