This coming Friday, January 11th and Saturday January 12th, 2012 at 7:30PM, The New World Symphony, NWS will host the first ever "Yoga Night" combined with the popular "mini-concerts" a half-hour performance by the NWS which take place in the New World Center concert hall in Miami Beach.
The acclaimed NWS- America’s Orchestral Academy- will feature a mini-concert at 7PM followed by a yoga session at 7:30 PM to take place outdoor at the NWC's SoundScape, led by lululemon ambassadors with yoga instructors Paul Toliuszis, Christy Nones McKenzie and Rina Jakubowicz leading the sessions.
Yoga participants will enjoy video art projected on the 7,000 square-foot wall of the New World Center with curated music from the park’s sound system.
Following the event, complimentary refreshments will be served to participants on the New World Center’s plaza.
The program for the 7:00 PM concert will include Rossini’s Overture to The Barber of Seville and Weber’s Overture to Der Freischütz and will be conducted by NWS Conducting Fellow Joshua Gersen.
Paul Toliuszis, a longtime yoga teacher from Miami Beach, is the creator of Miami Beach Power Yoga and he is the director of yoga at Green Monkey Yoga Studios. During the past 18 years of practice, this teacher of teachers has founded three Yoga Alliance Registered Schools, conducted 30 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Courses and helped hundreds of people become professional teachers in the global yoga community.
Christy Nones McKenzie has been a student of yoga since 1988 and has taught since 2000. A classically trained Homeopath and long-time dancer, she is enthusiastic about the healing and therapeutic aspects of the Anusara® yoga method.
Rina Jakubowicz, yoga instructor, motivational speaker, and author of Choose Peace, has been featured on Discovery Channel Latin America, Univision’s Tu Desayuno Alegre, as well as Plum TV, Buena Vida Magazine, The Miami Herald, NBCMiami.com, just to name a few. She is founder of Rina Yoga in Miami.
The collaborative NWS event—including the $2.50 concert ticket—is part of the New World Symphony’s mini-concerts series.
Half-hour concerts will also take place inside the New World Center concert hall on Friday, January 11 at 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM without the subsequent yoga session, and again on Saturday, January 12 at 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
