The first red-band trailer for "Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall" hits the web

It’s been three long years since “Kick-Ass” burst into theaters, and now it’s back in full force. Today, March 13, 2013, the first trailer for the “Kick-Ass” sequel, “Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall” hit the web. Simply put, the trailer kicks ass. Fans get to see exactly what the movie’s going to be like in the newly released, red-band trailer, which accompanies this article (NOTE: a red-band trailer is the equivalent of an R-rated movie, it is not suitable for children).

The trailer opens with the last film’s show-stealer, Hit Girl (played by the tremendously talented Chloe Moretz). She’s grown up a lot since the last film, and although her father, Big Daddy (played by the one and only Nicolas Cage) has passed away, she’s still kicking ass and taking names. Now she works with Kick-Ass (played by the now jacked Aaron Taylor Johnson) and the two tirelessly fight to protect the city her father died for. The duo is also joined by the versatile and extremely energetic Colonel Stars and Stripes, played by Jim Carrey (check out this article for a full description of his character).

However, there aren’t just good guys in this film, Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) is back too, and he’s matured a lot since the original film, and he now boasts the super villain name “Motherfucker,” and like Hit Girl, he’s out to defend his father’s legacy.

Although the original film’s director Matthew Vaughn has moved on to the lucrative “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four” franchises, the upcoming film is now helmed by the talented Jeff Wadlow, who is coming off his action film, “Never Back Down,” which won an MTV Movie Award for “Best Fight.”

Check out the trailer for Wadlow’s latest film and check out the new kickass “Kick-Ass 2” poster, both of which accompany this article. “Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall” hits theaters on August 16, 2013 – keep reading the Pittsburgh Film Industry Examiner for the latest news on “Kick-Ass 2.”
