The first annual Pitch the Publisher – La Grange! event was a smashing success.
Pitch the Publisher was an idea generated by Otherworld Publications to push aside the impenetrable veil that exists between publishers and authors, giving the author the chance to sit down and do their best to sell their book ideas directly to the publisher.
Several potential published authors flocked to La Grange, Kentucky to sell their book ideas to three local publishers. Frank Hall with Hydra Publications from Madison, Indiana, Dave Mattingly with Blackwyrm Publishing from Louisville, Kentucky and Lynn Calvert with Otherworld Publications from La Grange, Kentucky were on hand for the event.
The Oldham Era was on site to interview the authors and publishers and to take pictures.
Folks drove from as far away as Texas and Missouri to have the rare opportunity to sit down and talk face to face with the publishers.
The event started with authors checking in at Karen’s Book Barn and Java Stop on Main Street before the authors nervously climbed the long flight of stairs to La Venture Station where the publishers waited for them.
Pitch the Publisher attributed the success of the event to the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce, Discover Downtown La Grange, The Oldham Era, The Courier-Journal, Spalding University, and the University of Louisville for their support and help in getting the word out.
The next event is planned for November 2012 and Pitch the Publisher promises it will be even bigger.
