The first annual Donate-A-Book Day

Just in time to celebrate National Library Week, the ALTAFF (Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations), a division of the ALA, and the Book-of-the-Month Club is declaring this Thursday, April 14, 2011, to be the first annual Donate-A Book Day.

Booklovers everywhere are encouraged to donate a book to local libraries. Books that are not added to library collections are passed on to the Friends of the Library organizations that hold booksales and fundraisers for libraries. For a list of local Capital District libraries to donate to, click here.

Libraries aren't the only winners on Donate-A-Book Day. Donators who are also fans of the Book-of-the-Month Club Facebook page will be eligible to win a library of 10 new books. The Book-of-the-Month club is also asking that Foursquare users check-in to the Donate A Book Day moving target venue on April 14 and help promote the day.
