The "Great Food Truck Race Season 4" started out with eight trucks. Each week, one truck or one group was eliminated. The decision on who had to hand Tyler Florence their keys was determined by the amount of money they made. The one who made the least amount of money was eliminated from the race.
The finale started out with three trucks in the running. Aloha Plate, Philly’s Finest Sambonis and Tikka Tikka Taco. Tyler sent the three teams out on a boat to catch crabs. Then they had to come back and prepare them. Elimination round centered on the meal they prepared with the freshly caught crab.
A simple mistake cost Philly’s Finest Sambonis the chance to continue because they accidentally left crab shells in their food dish. Aloha Plate’s crab dish was too salty. Tikka Tikka Taco’s crab dish tasted the freshest, but they didn’t add enough sauce. The winner for that round was Aloha Plate, and they received $1,500. The other truck with the most amount of money was Tikka Tikka Taco.
Both trucks traveled to Arlington, Va., and the crowd clearly that the crowd loved Aloha Plate's food. They didn’t run out of customers while Tikka Tikka Taco had the opposite effect and couldn’t attract many hungry people.
Tyler sent them to Washington D.C. This time, they had to switch signature dishes. Aloha Plate had to sell chicken tikka tacos, and Tikka Tikka Taco had to sell teriyaki burgers. The first truck to sell 50 specials would win $1,000. Both teams did well with this competition round.
Tyler declared the race over and sent both teams to the National Mall where they met up. Tyler Florence counted out the money with both teams present. What a tense time for the two competing teams. It had to be hard to stand there while Tyler counted out the money in their cash boxes.
Then Tyler had the tough part of the show where he had to declare one truck a winner. The winner for the "Great Food Truck Race," Aloha Plate. They had a total of $14,850 while Tikka Tikka Taco only made $11,774.
