The final preliminary round of the Orlandobands.com/Evermore Sound Evermore Battle of the Bands is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5 at The Haven in Orlando. Do not despair though, there is still one more semi-final round on November 22 and then the final round on December 6 to see some of the top talent in Orlando, Central Florida and beyond.
This event will feature live music from Orlando bands Jupiter Groove, Kept Quiet, The Grizzly Atoms, From Mortals To Monsters and Central Florida band The Vivid for this special show. “We have been putting all of our time, sweat, and energy into preparing for this battle,” said David Minshall of Orlando band Kept Quiet. The opportunity to play in front of some of the local industry leaders and receive feedback from them is so valuable and we are looking forward to it. It is also the first time a lot of our friends and family will be hearing our new music. It’s very exciting for us.”
The sponsors of this year’s Evermore Battle of the Bands are Evermore Sound, Orlandobands.com, Capacity Productions, Freedom Union Records, Classic Cases, InEarz Audio, Rejuven-Ink, Spawn Guitars, Left Digital Media, Goin Balistic!, 101.1 WJRR’s Native Noise with Supa Dave and The Orlando Local Music Examiner. “We have a very close relationship with Orlandobands.com and Ben Gardner,” said Minshall. “Our drummer and bassist are actually part of the Orlandobands.com Street Team and have been for almost a year now. Orlandobands.com has been a major resource for us as local artists. It has been a blessing to us as far as industry advice, promotional materials and recommendations. They are influencing, in my opinion, the local scene to have a sense of camaraderie and support among the bands and artists. As their saying goes, ‘support local music or let it die’.”
The bands will be judged on several categories including musicianship, songwriting, originality, crowd reaction, stage presence and professionalism, as well as promotion and networking. They will be competing for over $25,000 in prizes including a custom built guitar and recording packages from Evermore Sound. “Our rhythm guitarist and I have actually recorded with Luke [Beaulac] at EvermoreSound in a previous project. We really enjoyed the experience and are planning to record again at Evermore with Kept Quiet. The studio is beautiful and really promotes creativity. Luke is easy to work with and the quality of the recordings he produces is beyond anything we have received from any other studio.”
The Evermore Battle of the Bands is at The Haven, 6700 Aloma Ave. in Winter Park/Orlando. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. with the first band. Tickets are $5 in advance from the bands. (Their pre-sale tickets count as part of their score.) Tickets will be $8 at the door for this 18+ event. This is a non-smoking event.
Just as the past battles, they will be collecting donations for charity. The money collected this year will go to the Southeast Lung Transplant Fund, helping to support HelpHOPELive.
