BioWare's Chris Priestly announced today on Feb. 21 via the BioWare forums that the final two DLC packages for the award-winning game "Mass Effect 3" will be released in the coming weeks. The first DLC package titled Reckoning will be the final multiplayer expansion and will be released for free on Feb. 26 for Xbox 360. PS3 and PC owners will see Reckoning hit their systems on Feb. 27. The second DLC package titled Citadel will be the final single-player expansion and will be released for $14.99 on Mar. 5. for Xbox 360. Citadel will be available on Mar. 6 for PS3 and PC owners.

Reckoning will offer new characters, equipment, weapons and weapon mods to the multiplayer lineup. The new characters include the Geth Juggernaut, Female Turian Raptor, Talon Mercenary and Alliance Infiltration Unit. Of the seven new weapons included, the Geth Spitfire Assault Rifle, Venom Shotgun and Lancer Assault Rifle were named, and weapon mods like the Geth Scanner and Assault Rifle Ultralight materials will be added to pump up your weapon stats. Sadly we will not be seeing any knew locales added to the lineup, but these new additions will no doubt add a few last breaths to the "Mass Effect 3" multiplayer experience.

For the final single-player expansion, Chris Priestly had this to say concerning the new additions and contents to "Mass Effect 3":

When a sinister conspiracy targets Commander Shepard, you and your team must uncover the truth, through battles and intrigue that range from the glamour of the Citadel’s Wards to the top-secret Council Archives. Uncover the truth and fight alongside your squad – as well as the cast from the original Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2.

When the adventure is over, reconnect with your favorite characters from the Mass Effect Trilogy, try your luck at the Citadel’s Silver Coast Casino, blow off steam in the Armax Combat Arena, or explore and furnish Shepard’s own living quarters on the Citadel. With unique content and cinematics featuring your friends and romance interests in the Mass Effect trilogy, Mass Effect 3: Citadel offers one final chance to see the characters you have known for years and rekindle romances.

For Xbox 360 owners, the single-player expansion will be split into two separate download packs. The first will be priced at $14.99 and the second will be free. You will be allowed to download the second pack without the first; however, you will not be able to launch Citadel unless you have purchased and downloaded the first pack. PS3 and PC owners will not have to worry about this issue as they will only have to download one file.

Aside from the unique download issue for Xbox 360 owners, BioWare seems to be striving to continue to breathe a little bit more life into Shepard's story before they move on to the future of the "Mass Effect" franchise. Keep an eye out for more "Mass Effect" and BioWare news.

"Mass Effect 3" is currently available for purchase on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and the Wii U. What are your impressions of BioWare and their new "Mass Effect 3" DLC. Post your comments below.
