There were two new movies that came out this week, but it is no surprise at which movie that came out on top.
The latest Young Adult novel to be adapted comes from John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars and the movie dominated the box office bringing in an estimated $48.2 million it’s first weekend. The movie has been getting great reviews from both fans and critics and it’s no surprise as John Green himself has stated that the movie is very loyal to the book.
Dropping out of the top spot, but still holding strong is Maleficent with an estimated $33 million. The movie almost was able to crack into triple digits it’s opening weekend and is able to pull in a good 2nd week box office. The movie has made roughly $127 million in just two weeks. Should be able to crack that $200 million mark soon.
The other movie that premiered this week was Edge of Tomorrow with an estimated $29 million. Tom Cruise still continues to work the sci-fi action film sequence as this is the second film in a row where he stars in a sci-fi movie. This one looks to have had a lower premiere box office despite having a larger budget to work with.
X-men Days of Future Past is getting a large decline at the box office just barely reaching double digits with an estimated $14.7 million over the weekend. Seth Macfarlane’s new movie A Million Ways to Die in the West took in an estimated $7.1 million over the weekend. No where near the type of numbers that Ted reached.
For the rest of the box office, you can go here.
There are three big movies set to come out this week, including two big box office sequels that will surely battle for the top spot at the box office next weekend.
