Firefly was a television show that was on the air for less than a season, but it still resonates with its fans (aka Browncoats). Orange County has its own legion of Browncoats and they will be out in full force on Saturday for an event called Can't Stop the Serenity. This evening will include a screening of the episode "Out of Gas" and Joss Whedon's full-length film Serenity.
But this event isn't just about the opportunity to see Firefly on the big screen (although that would probably be enough for most fans of the show). It's also about the release of an EP. Local band The Fallen Stars has put together its first Leaves on the Wind EP, featuring songs inspired by Firefly. (I mentioned that the show still resonates with its fans.) The Fallen Stars will play some of its songs from the new EP before "Out of Gas" episode and more songs between "Out of Gas" and Serenity. You can take home this EP for the low price of $5.
Proceeds from this event go to Equality Now. Tickets are $15 (buying them in advance is highly recommended).
Can't Stop the Serenity begins at 7:00 on Saturday (21 September) at:
