Charlotte Rae, “The Facts of Life” star, is currently having her memoir looked at by different book publishers, but she has a big surprise in it. The 86 year old star admits that her husband was gay and he cheated on her according to Us Weekly on Jan. 21.
Rae is most known for her role as Mrs. Edna Garrett on “The Facts of Life.” She has now written a memoir called The Facts of My Life which talks about her 25 year marriage to her composer husband John Strauss.
Charlotte's marriage ended in 1975 when John admitted that he was gay and had cheated on her. Charlotte admits that she was in shock and the admission shattered her self image. Charlotte and John had two sons together. John passed away in 2011 from Parkinson’s disease.
Charlotte Rae first appeared as Mrs. Garrett on “Diff’rent Strokes” in the first season in 1978. Rae then landed a role in the spinoff series “The Facts of Life.”
