The Examiner Essentials: 20 films to watch

Examiner Essential # 18

For convenient navigation, here's an easy to scan page containing the first twenty entries into the Examiner Essentials series. These twenty films are not the best twenty of all time, but are among the best of all time. The funny thing about coming up with a list like this is that there are so many movies left to watch, and so many more yet to be made.

But this is a decent start. The genres range from westerns and gangster movies, to period pieces, sci-fi films, comedies and kung fu flicks. The oldest of these twenty films was released in 1933 (to much fanfare), and the most recent entry was released at the end of last year (without a single television commercial).

Keep an eye out for round 2 of the Examiner Essentials, and if you have any suggestions for what should make the cut, use the comment section below.
