Bethesda Softworks and Tango Gameworks released a terrifying and sometimes trippy gameplay trailer for The Evil Within on Wednesday. PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC owners should take note if they are looking for a good scare this August.
The Evil Within is led by Japanese game director Shinji Mikami who is best known as the creator of the Resident Evil series. After parting ways with Capcom, he started his own game studio in Tango Gameworks and took on the task of creating an all new and pure survival-horror franchise.
Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force while investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder in The Evil Within. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. Facing unimaginable terror, and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what’s behind this evil force.
The developers promise a fight for survival as players must manage limited resources while navigating highly crafted environments and an intricate story.
The Evil Within is currently slated to be released to the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on August 26 in North America, August 28 in Australia and August 29 in Europe.
