“The 25,000 Mile Love Story,” The film was recently selected by the Rome International Film Festival committee to be shown at the Rome International Film Festival. Earlier this summer in New York at the People’s Film Festival the film won the “Audience Favorite Award,” and in Los Angeles the “Documentary Feature Film Award,” at the Moondance International Film Festival.
The Rome International Flim Festival will be held September 5-7 at the DeSoto Theater
The film is about the swiss endurance athlete Serge Roetheli and his wife Nicole on a five year 25,000 journey around the world for “Run for Kids,” World Tour. It’s 35 countries, six continents of running is some of the most unforgiving landscapes to raise awareness of impoverished children in developing countries.
The run took 1,910 days, that’s a marathon distance every other day for 63 months, or 97 marathons
Serge ran the entire way with Nicole at his side on a 125 Yamaha motorcycle with a pup tent and supplies. They endured civil wars, man-eating animals, poisonous snakes and extreme weather. The couple even came down with malaria, and Serge wash hit by a car and suffered a broken arm, and raised $400,000 for humanitarian efforts in Africa, South America and Central America.
