Ft. Worth – A new era in endurance training begins today with the opening of the enduraLAB performance gym near downtown Ft. Worth. The Lab is located at 2200 West 7th Street, one block from the Trinity Trail, across from the Police and Firefighters Museum.
The brainchild of husband and wife running duo, Lee and Isis Hargrave, The Lab caters to athletes of all ages and skill level with an emphasis on endurance enthusiasts, long distance runners, cyclists, and triathletes.
The enduraLAB’s motto is, “Endurance-specific training for athletes of all ages and skill levels who want to improve their health, increase performance and reduce the risk of injury for life, their sport or next big race.”
A better way
Co-founder, Lee Hargrave says, “After watching many of my running friends become injured while training for their race I knew where had to be a better way to train. That led to getting advice from some of the area’s endurance sports experts. Consistently they emphasize functional strength training, mobility, flexibility and nutrition as part of their training. It’s clear there’s more to becoming a better runner than just running more miles.”
Focus on the individual in a social setting
Whereas most health clubs place their resources on a room full of equipment and a few impersonal group classes, The Lab takes a decidedly personal and specific training approach. The Lab’s focus is on a series of daily group training sessions of running, strength and conditioning, and performance preparation. There is also a weekly instructor-led yoga practice as well. In addition to the training sessions, the strength training equipment is available for use.
Flexible pricing
The Lab offers a unique pricing structure allowing the members to tailor their training for their needs and pocketbook. Unlike most health clubs where the members play a flat, all-inclusive fee but only use a fraction of the equipment, The Lab members can choose how they use the gym from specific training, to drop-in pricing, to an everything-is-included plan. “It’s all about flexibility for the athlete,” says Hargrave, “it can be a better way to pay for the services they want, just when they want them.”
