The Endorsement: Terre d’Hermès

The past decade has seen a marked proliferation in fragrances intended specifically for the male of the species, and each and every season finds more and more players delving into this space. Fashion houses have discovered that releasing a fragrance is a great way to garner new customers, and at a modest price point, but now even musicians, athletes and persons of varying degrees of fame have gotten into the mix.

Terre d’Hermès, created by world renown perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, who has been the in-house perfumer for Hermès for the past decade, was introduced in 2006 to both rave reviews and tremendous sales success and for good reason.

Combining essence of citrus and wood, cedar to be specific, Terre d’Hermès is a versatile fragrance that can be worn during any season and will prove distinctive enough to leave behind a “lasting impression” on those lucky enough to share the same space with you.

Notes of grapefruit but especially orange are present almost immediately. The hint of pepper gradually peaks through and features prominently in the “sillage,” or wake of the scent after the wearer has passed by or left the room completely.

And because of the composition of Terre d’Hermès, which is largely essential oil based, up to 22% in fact, the fragrance will not break down as quickly as other eau de toilette type fragrances, instead lasting instensly for up to as many as eight hours.

Versatility is the key here however, as Terre d’Hermès is sturdy enough to wear daily, think of the office or the boardroom, but also unique enough to wear to a special occasion, perhaps a special night out or even a formal event like a wedding.

With so many fragrances to choose from, pick something memorable like Terre d’Hermès, and be prepared to impress.
