The time has finally come! After months of speculating, waiting and down right hanging on the edge of a knife, the wait is finally over as hitting the web today is the first trailer to The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. The third chapter of The Hobbit Trilogy will tell the last part of Bilbo Baggins' journey as he and the dwarves of Erebor find themselves in war of men, elves and orcs. The film hits theaters later this year, but at long last fans and moviegoers can get an idea of what to expect from this "Defining Chapter".
The teaser begins with a narration from Bilbo, who proclaims what he will take away his experience from the events ahead (which sets viewers up for what they are about to see). The remainder of the teaser is accompanied by the song "Edge of Night"; which was sung by Pippin in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Along with the song are several shots of the characters we have come to know through out this trilogy, as it could very well be the last time we see them. Filled with armies on the march, characters in action and a mad looking Thorin, the trailer indeed feels like a prelude to war as well as a major cinematic event. To give this preview the icing on the cake are Thorin's last words in the trailer asking his company if they will follow him one last time. Oh and Smaug is there too!
Directed by Peter Jackson, the film stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Orlando Bloom, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Ken Stott, Graham McTavish, James Nesbitt, Aidan Turner, Billy Conolly, Sylvester McCoy, Manu Bennett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Hugo Weaving, Christopher Lee and Cate Blantchett.
