The Enchanted Closet, the non-profit organization that CEO Bonita Johnson started in 2003, celebrated the much anticipated grand opening of their permanent storefront on Saturday June 27, 2010.
Just as the organization has had an immeasurable effect on the Atlanta metro area they serve, the community has embraced The Enchanted Closet. The space that they occupy in the Sandy Spring plaza is donated and the store is run by volunteers, board members and girls in the entrepreneurship program, GIRL$. The store itself is decorated by Interior Decorator Monique Cunningham. Monique, owner of Kuhmeeleeuhn, created a beautiful space, with painted silhouettes and whimsical chandeliers.
The store, mostly open on weekends, will enable the organization to accept formal gowns and accessories year round. The gowns, shoes, accessories range from $5-$25 and are for sale to the general public. The store's sales will provide a steady source of income and also serve as a business training program for self sufficiency of girls ages 13-19 primarily from low income families in the metro Atlanta area.
