The Economy Has Taken Its Toll On the Restaurant Industry In Fayetteville

It would appear that the economy has taken quite a toll on the restaurant industry in Fayetteville. While there are new establishments popping up everywhere such as Memphis BBQ in the former O’Charley’s location next to Sam’s Club and Walmart, and Cracker Barrell is on the way in the former Fire Mountain location, however it is unknown what has happened to Aspen Creek and if they will re-open after a remodel. It is a sign of the times that people are no longer going out to eat as much as a result of our economy however, many restaurants are offering lower priced menus or 2 for deals that allow 2 people to eat for one set price.

I don’t recommend giving up on going out to eat totally as this hurts our economy further by more people losing jobs, but I do advise dining smart. There are many ways to enjoy a night out and not break the bank; check to see if kids eat free, check the restaurants website for coupons in advance, take advantage specials such as “2 for” deals and also several local restaurants are listed on Restaurant.com where you can purchase gift cards for discounts on meals. Personally, I always check the website before going out for a meal, just to see if there are any specials or coupons that can be utilized and sometimes since the portion size is just so big I opt for the smaller appetizer size portions, which in turn is often cheaper. Enjoying a nice meal out doesn’t have to break the bank as long as you do your homework.

Hopefully we will continue to see new establishments pop up as we mourn the loss of some of our favorites. Either way folks, Fayetteville is growing all the time and new restaurants are popping up everywhere and the competition to earn your dining dollars is on so take advantage of that! Also let’s please don’t forget the little family owned businesses that offer quality food at great prices they may not be part of a large chain but they are still a huge part of our local economy and offer a great service.

I hope all your meals are happy ones :)
