The early bird goes to the Film Festival-Submit to MassIFF and save

Last August, The Boston Film Industry Examiner attended the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival and it was an excellent event. Held at the Somervillle Theater and the Brattle in Cambridge, the audience got to enjoy a wide variety of genres and some great acting.

The festival will not return for several months, but there is a reason to think about it. You have until March 1st for early bird submissions. Granted, the savings are not vast, but if you plan on entering a few, every bit helps.

The team running the show Nolan Yee, Jason Miller and Christopher Di Nunzio do not compete even though they are all passionate and talented filmmakers. They are an ethical team. Watch the embedded video. Chris talks about what the festival means.

The categories for entry are,
Short Films-any genre under 59 minutes
Feature length Films-any genre over 59 minutes
Short Documentary-under 59 minutes
Feature Documentary-over 59 minutes
Short Animation-under 59 minutes
Feature Animation-over 59 minutes

Screenplays (Script)-Screenplays can be any length.
Short-Under 59 Pages
Feature-Over 59 Pages

There are awards for all the usual categories including horror, which seems to be an audience favorite.

The Massachusetts Independent Film Festival is an honest and welcoming outlet for the indie movie maker.
