Musicians in Arkansas and Oklahoma know that one of the most desirable cities to play in is Fort Smith. Arkansas' second largest city has some of the best restaurants and clubs that routinely showcase great regional talent like Carter Sampson and Hot Lix, as well as world famous artists like Bret Michaels and Ted Nugent. This weekend one of Tulsa's best up-and-coming duos is making their debut at one of Fort Smith's best establishments: Roosters on the Avenue located at 801 Garrison Avenue Fort Smith, AR 72901.
The Dusty Pearls is the brain child of a former worship leader and a self-proclaimed musical encyclopedia. Six years ago Mark was leading worship at a church in Tulsa where he met a new singer named Shelly, who was auditioning for a spot in the choir. As the years went by Shelly began singing along side veteran vocalists, while Mark continued to lead bands as well as recording and producing music.
In January of 2013 the duo took a chance and formed The Dusty Pearls. The acoustic sound of the pair became an instant hit in the Tulsa region. In late June The Dusty Pearls crossed the state line when they played at the New Delhi Cafe in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. This examiner attended that show and was impressed by their mix of pop cover songs and original material. Now The Dusty Pearls are bringing their mix of Southern Rock and Country to Roosters on Friday October, 18 2013.
For those who have never been, Roosters is one of Fort Smith's best clubs. What has made Roosters so popular is their cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and full menu. Wait, did somebody say food? Yes Virginia, Roosters does have a full menu. Roosters offers hand made pizzas, sub sandwiches, hot wings and salads at reasonable prices. Okay so maybe the term “full menu” is a stretch, but most of the clubs in Fort Smith do not offer any sort of food. Roosters not only offers great comfort food but will serve it until 4 A.M. Considering that a majority of the restaurants in Fort Smith are not even open at that time, it is hard to pass up something like this.
So if you have not made plans for this weekend yet come out to Roosters and help welcome The Dusty Pearls to the Fort Smith music scene.
The Dusty Pearls will begin playing around 10 PM. There is no cover, for more information please call 479-783-2625.
