It's rare to see a 1976 Chevette being used for good clean fun. Running the trails in a rally style, "The Dukes of Milford" tear up the terrain in their Chevette version fo the General Lee. The Dukes of Hazzard was a great film that was full of terrific car stunts. In honor to the great Dukes of Hazzard, the Dukes of Milford have thrown together a clip of some pretty intense driving accompanied by wild music. Why a Chevette?

The Chevette came with an inline four cylinder that was light weight and ideal for a FR setup. With cc classes in the lowest available at most events, the Chevette quickly became an icon of rally yore. The Vauxhaull Chevette is the true bread winner, with lineage into rally history. Taking the design a step further, the rally version featured a 2.3 liter, 16 v slant four cylinder yielding 135 whp. For the times, it was monumental. Superb handling and decent weight distribution gives the Chivette a digging approach to loose terrain.

Today, this car when properly upgraded is still a very fun rally car but isn't the fastest. It's a good vehicle to learn the dynamics of various terrains due to it's unique ability to correct it's path of travel. Another trait of the Chevette for newbs of rally is the relatively cheap cost. The average price of a Chevette is well within the means of rookie drivers and navigators of rally. Get the car, get the equipment, and get over to the sanctioned events and have some fun! Unlocking the world of rally is fun, exciting, and everything between.
