While the Duggars' 19th child, Josie Duggar, remains in NICU at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, the family has been out and about exploring the city with TLC cameras in tow.
The Duggars and their 16 youngest children have gone on field trips and explored the capital city of Arkansas. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported that the Duggars were spotted giving blood at the Red Cross after the Haiti earthquake and touring the USS Razorback.
The Duggars are renting a large house in the historic Quapaw Quarter of Little Rock, not far from the hospital. Jim Bob Duggar told People magazine on Monday that the family organizes field trips around the kids' homeschooling schedule and make sure all of the kids are getting plenty of attention..
"We are still involved in our chldren's lives," said Jim Bob. "I take the kids to do things that are fun and educational, like touring the USS Razorback. "
Michelle remarked, "I came in from the hospital that night and my little ones had on sailor hats and were talking about how they liked to eat spinach."
The Duggars said Josie currently weighs in at 1 lb., 6 oz. She was transferred to Arkansas Children's Hospital from UAMS, where she was born, after suffering a perforated bowel at eight days old. Hospital policy does not allow children under 18 to visit, so Jim Bob records vidoes on his iPhone to show the kids at home.
Baby Josie debuted on the premiere of19 Kids and Counting: Special Delivery Sunday night, which chronicled her journey into this world as mom Michelle was rushed to emergency surgery after developing life-threatening preeclampsia.
Josie's first Christmas will air this Tuesday, February 9, on TLC, Channel 68 in Little Rock. TLC also released a video clip Tuesday, titled "Emergency Delivery," which shows the Duggars discussing the decision to transfer Michelle from Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, Arkansas, near Tontitown where the Duggars live, to UAMS in Little Rock.
