Phil Robertson is the patriarch of the Robertson family, and they call him the “Duck Commander” because of the duck call that he invented which catapulted them to multi-millionaires. Starcasm had a March 18 article about his newly released book which is an honest portrayal of his life.
According to “Happy, Happy, Happy: My life and legacy as the Duck Commander,” there was a point in his late-twenties that his life was “headed south.” Many who hear him talk about his faith today would be surprised to know the man he used to be.

The book is being released on May 7, but it was previously written and marketed by his brother, James Robertson, in 2011. This new edition credits Mark Schlabach, also, on the cover, and there are probably some cosmetic changes or a few additions.
Phil Robertson talks about his former life in a video attached to this article.
Phil was not always the “Duck Commander.” In the attached video, he discusses being a wild sort of guy. He was running a bar when someone shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with him. After accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and having his sins forgiven, which he quickly admits were many, he soon after invented the famous Duck Commander Duck Call that changed Phil Robertson’s life forever.

This book is described as “no-holds-barred,” and that is an apt description of Phil Robertson. He says what he has to say in an unabashedly honest way. He does not whitewash anything, even his own life. That is part of what people find very refreshing about "Duck Dynasty," the Robertsons, and the faith that they readily share wherever they go.
