The Duchess of Cambridge visits The Art Room schools today

The Duchess of Cambridge continues her solo patron duties today by attending two schools that are part of The Art Room program. The Art Room helps raise self-esteem and independence for disadvantaged children and teens ages 5-16. Currently 20 schools are involved with 2,000 children participating.

The two schools Kate is visiting are the Rose Hill School in Oxford and the Oxfored Spires Academy. As a history major herself, Kate selected a charity that she had a passion for.

According to The Art Room's director Julie Beattie, the charity is "one of the smallest in the country." Surely Kate's high profile presence will help these smaller charities in the same way she has helped little known fashion designers.

The Duchess selected a whimsical design by Dublin born Orla Kiely for today's outing. Orla Kiely was dubbed "Queen of the Print" by the Gaurdian. The designer is known especially for her work with textiles and handbag design. She is currently London based and a favorite of high profile ladies such as Alexa Chung and Kirsten Dunst.

The coat/dress Kate selected had a tiny dove bird print over a chestnut background. It featured front buttons and pleating which was form-fitted at the bodice and flared from the waist. She added brown pantyhose and suede ankle boots. The look was perfect for the occasion. It had a youthful and artsy style.

Inside her first stop, Kate enjoyed a rendition from the students of The Owl and The Pussycat plus a visual interpretation of the prose. She sported an apron created just for her that read "Miss Catherine."

Kate shined with her warmth of smile and stylish look. It seemed everyone around her felt her enthusiasm for the arts.

Orla Kiely will certainly enjoy a boost from the visit as well.

Kate's power continues full speed ahead.
