The Duchess of Cambridge makes everything she does look effortless. She made her first solo appearance at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Prince William is currently deployed to the Falkland Islands and could not attend.

Kate selected a simple and classic design by Jesire according to the Telegraph. The double breasted dress featured a shawl neckline, cinched waist and woven belt. A diamond bracelet and circular pendant added a bit of sparkle. Black suede mile-high pumps and a suede clutch completed her look.

The Duchess has recently become a patron of the the National Portrait Gallery. She viewed an extensive exhibit of paintings by the artist Lucian Freud. The collection boasts over 100 pieces obtained from museums and private collectors.
