The Dropa Stone has a special performance lined up for July 25 at Tanqueray’s in downtown Orlando. The band will be performing a Led Zeppelin tribute set as well as some brand new originals and playing their album “Starry Messenger” from beginning to end.
This special performance will include surprise guests along with band members Justin Henry (vocals/lead guitar), Joe Lederman (drums), Will Richey (bass) and Jon Meyers (vocals/rhythm guitar), who is back for a visit from Seattle. “The Dropa Stone is still alive and kicking in Orlando and have [been] writing tons of new psychedelic and jazzy material with Justin taking over on vocals, many of which will be played at Tanqueray’s,” said Jon Meyers in a recent email interview.
Music fans may recall the band’s last Led Zeppelin tribute performance. “About a year ago we did a very special Led Zeppelin tribute at the Jambando Music Festival which was such an incredible experience that we decided to do it again with added material and in a more intimate setting,” said Meyers.
While in Seattle, Meyers has kept busy with non-music activities and hasn’t shared his music out there, yet. Maybe they need a Dropa Stone experience? “I actually just recently started taking some baby steps to put myself out there again in a new music scene,” he said. “I’ve been writing a lot of music on my own but was feeling a little apprehensive about starting another project. I will say, some things are in the works and will keep you posted when they come to fruition.”
The FREE 21+ show will be at Tanqueray’s, 100 S. Orange Ave. in Orlando on July 25. The show starts at 10:30 p.m. and will carry on into the wee hours. The band will also be bringing the show to South Florida on August 1 at Funky Buddha Lounge & Brewery in Boca Raton.
