The Drive is driving to succeed in a Kickstarter campaign

Is it a coincidence that a movie called The Drive is being made by a group of “driven” artists? The Boston Film Industry Examiner thinks not. After all, just to work in media, one has to be obsessed, maybe even possessed.

Doubtless, that is so with Team The Drive. Their Kickstarter page is one of the most comprehensive I’ve seen. They want to make this movie.

What is The Drive about? From the page:

Our film, The Drive, is about an imaginative, young staff writer who is driven to finish a final creative project for a long over due promotion. One night. One mistake. One stranger. One chance is all she has left.

It is a psychological thriller that touches upon the dangerous implications of being too driven to accomplish a dream, and sheds light on the power of the imagination within our young female protagonist, Lilly Cimini, as she grapples with her sense of devotion, destiny, and dysfunctional ambition. We feel our audience will appreciate the story for the uniquely crafted plot and character driven storytelling.

They better be driven. There is no dearth of competition out there in Indie Film Land. How tough is the environment. Alexis Ann Rosasco first came to the attention of The Boston film Industry Examiner back in 2010. The School of the Museum of Fine Arts grad was working on a project. Antigonish the Movie was a great story, but ran up against the wall of funding. You can read about it here.

Wiser, but looking no older, she is back and undaunted. On this movie, she will wear a few hats, writer, co-director, star and producer. It’s ambitious, but this is not a business for shrinking violets.

Her co-impresario in the MTOWN FILMS project is Allen Jerome Redwing. Allen will be executive producer and co-director. He is founder and CEO of VIP Paparazzi. VIP Paparazzi is a full service media shop known for fashion.

Other production team members include casting director and unit production manager, Anny Dinn as well as Benjamin Tyler Knight, DP and Cinematographer. Both are well-traveled veteran professionals.

The Kickstarter page has information on the other members of the team, and The Drive has a suite of perks to reward donors.

One aspect of the page I found refreshing is the lack of false modesty usually extant in our society.

Per Allen, For our film, I am the DIRECTOR: NO ONE IS MORE DRIVEN THAN I.

From Alexis, For our film, I am the WRITER, ACTRESS, AND STORYBOARD ARTIST: NO ONE IS MORE CREATIVE THAN I.

Anny, For our film, I am the UPM & CASTING DIRECTOR: NO ONE IS MORE FOCUSED THAN I.

and Ben, For our film, I am the DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY: NO ONE IS MORE COMPETENT THAN I.

Bravado, sure, but you don't want folks who lack confidence on your crew. After all, no one can equal the vast humility the Boston Film Industry Examiner is so damn proud of, and they shouldn't try.

So go on and mosey over to the Kickstarter Page here.
