The drama queens of Capitol Hill

The Dems just can't let the Supreme Court ruling in the Hobby Lobby case go. When the Court affirmed the right of a closely-held corporation to opt out of certain provisions of Obamacare they found objectionable, almost immediately liberals turned into drama queens. They began running around in circles screaming that the sky was falling and they had to do something about it. Women would no longer be able to access healthcare! Newsflash: Everything is still legal and accessible. The only difference is that now, you may have to pay for some things yourself.

So, the Dems put their collective heads together and forty-five of our senators along with Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) have co-sponsored and introduced the Protect Women's Health From Corporate Interference Act of 2014. They came up with such a clever and positive name for such a nefarious bill, S.2578, which basically throws the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 (RFRA) and the Supreme Court ruling out the window. You know RFRA, the law that guaranteed religious freedom, affirming it above and beyond the First Amendment. This lovely little piece of new legislation requires employers who provide group insurance for their employees to also provide for all goods and services mandated by Obamacare. Religious convictions or objections of conscience make no difference. Such hubris! Such pride! Such a grasp at power that does not belong to any mortal!

If the bill passes the Senate, I have my doubts about it getting through the House. Thank God for a bicameral Congress. But the mere existence of this bill reveals the mindset of the left. They have no concern for Constitutional rights. They have no care for human dignity, or for that matter, human life. They want the power to decide everything for us in every aspect of our lives. They want to worm their way into our hearts, and minds, and consciences to make us think like them, and act like them, and they can tolerate nothing less.

And when the bill ultimately fails, as I think it will, they will continue to run around in circles screaming that the sky is falling, something they have done for decades. Personally, I'm tired of these drama queens turning everything into a crisis and political theater. In the meantime, we must all remain vigilant to what they will try next, and there will be a next time.
