In May of this year, prior to the death of Ray Manzarek, The Doors and Rhino Entertainment released the first Doors app that boasts a whole slew of innovative features such as a graphic novel, a gallery of Doors artwork and images, a timeline, who’s who in The Doors, samples of songs, a listing of Doors concerts that allows for fans to interactively add their memories of the show, essays by people like Patty Smith and Hunter S, Thompson. The Doors have just added to the app a tribute to Ray Manzarek who died May 20 shortly after the release of the app.
The tribute to Manzarek titled Ray Remembered includes an interview with John Densmore and Robby Krieger, part of which can be seen in the video above. The tribute also includes a slideshow of previously unseen pictures of Manzarek and the band as well as an essay by Adam Holzman, son of Elektra founder Jac Holzman. The Doors app is now only $2.99 and available at the iTunes app store.
