The Dog Bowl is back Sunday

The dog bowl is back. Sunday, April 11, from 1 to 5 pm, dogs and their humans will be welcome at the Cotton Bowl Stadium. This is a free event. Before the gates open to go inside the Cotton Bowl, there will be a “Tail Gate” party in the parking lot. That starts at 11 am. Dog clubs, rescue groups, and animal welfare organizations will have booths set up for you to see.

Once inside, the Cotton Bowl will have misting ponds and dog bowls for your dog to get a drink and stay cool. Beverages will be on sale for the humans in the group, including some adult beverages. There will also be entertainment, activities, giveaways, and exhibits to look at. Dogs can try an agility course and learn some tricks. Humans and their dogs can enter a human/dog look-alike contest.

There will be veterinarians, trainers, and various pet product vendors there to give training advice, health advice, and share the latest in pet products and doggy care trends. For $10, you can have a picture of you and your dog projected on the Cotton Bowl Jumbotron.

This should be a fun event. However, there will be an estimated 5,000 people and close to that many dogs. Do not take young puppies that have not finished their shots out to an event like this as they may catch something. If your dog is aggressive toward other dogs, you probably should pass this one up as well. Remember to pick up after your dog and give him plenty of chances to get a drink and go to the bathroom.
