Most of us would agree that human beings are guided, controlled, dictated and governed by subconscious desires that we are ‘more than likely’ unaware of. These hidden desires motivate, encourage, and support decisions we make that we probably don’t understand or appreciate fully, at the time. And, ‘more than likely’ these same underlying prompters show up in overt emotional responses that surprise us, or at the very least cause us to ponder in ‘silent thoughts of fantasy’ To ask the question: where did those feelings come from. Some may interpret these unexpected sensations as simply: ATTRACTION. But, regardless of how the feelings are explained away or reasoned out, the fact remains that we respond emotionally to things according to unknown factors lodged somewhere deep in the recesses of our memories. At times, we are baffled by certain reactions which cause us to either be repelled or drawn to certain people, places and events. We know instinctively whether we like something or we don’t. No ifs ands, or buts about it. We just plain KNOW! According to Sigmund Freud, “The quickest way to trigger an emotional response is with scent.” I am convinced (current research also strongly supports) that the power of scent is the single most influencing factor determining a person’s predispositions. You don’t have to know why something or someone appeals to you, but you do have to respond to those initial stirrings in order to discover more about the apparent mystery within you. Thus, begins the challenge of paradoxical pursuit. The pursuit involving the old ‘cat and mouse’ chase is set in motion to unlock the door into the unknown aspects of yourself veiled and reflected in relationships, circumstances and people. The attraction power of scent looms large.
Some of you may say that an attraction toward certain relationships is obvious. The ‘all too common’ desperate seed of loneliness, boredom, and/or restlessness begins to stir pushing its way to the surface seeking union. And, I say even with that lame excuse, something more mysterious is at work. Something beneath the obvious that is pulling your strings. What could that mysterious impetus be? SCENT! That’s right. I said, the smell of the encounter has inadvertently caught your nose and your attention. And, like a Blue Tick hound in heat, you’re fast on the trail of your new found fascination no matter where it leads or how long it lasts. Once the fragrance catches hold of you you’re a goner. No matter the briars, brambles and overgrown weeds, nothing will stop you, short of death, in capturing and maintaining that sensual aroma you’ve discovered while acknowledging the desire of “it” in your life. There’s been an ongoing debate with chemists as to whether scent is triggered by receptors or vibrations. Either way, the point remains that only certain fragrances work specifically for you. I opt for vibration since all things vibrate. Imagine, if you would, walking into a Bakery where several vast delicious aromas are freshly lingering in the air. Notice how you immediately are drawn to a specific scent. Nothing else will satisfy. The same exacting experience happens when you meet a person who is vibrating with the scent you instinctively recognize. Although you may not immediately become aware of it; the innate scent of that individual grabs your attention and you can’t get him/her out of your mind. Preferred scent is something difficult to explain or comprehend. You simply are able to detect, without a moment’s hesitation, a fragrance you like or despise. Sort of magical, I guess. Anyway, enhancing our natural scent encourages an overall sense of well-being and productivity. We feel better about ourselves when we know we smell good (desirable). Bottom line: feel good, smell great; travel far.
We all possess a certain sensual flavor about ourselves. It’s called being ‘turned on.’ Yes, it’s sexual in nature because we are designed that way. But, more than that, it’s spiritual in premise. Sexuality is the highest form of spirituality available to mankind. We start at the lowest rung of the human creative ladder (whatever interests us) and proceed upwards. All creativity is sexual in expression. Art, music, drama, and the written word, most especially. We possess instinctual sensual drives that are specifically geared to gravitate to the necessary experiences we need. We start by being attracted to someone or something. Of course, it has to do with us procreating and multiplying on the Earth, but the divine subliminal urge encompasses far more than meets the eyes and nose, so to speak. We, as human beings, are propelled to discover who we are, what we want, and for what purpose we inhabit the planet. Without instinctual sexual appeal, little would be accomplished on the journey towards self-evolvement, self-actualization or self-fulfillment. Each person expresses his/her divine will in various ways. All is imbued sexual energy released in music, drama, art or the written word. No, you do not have to be viewed as an artist {which, in fact, you are} or musician or actor, or author in order to be operating on this level. Every conscious or unconscious stroke you make with your arms, legs, hands, head, feet or body exemplifies the artistic display of your unique divine sexual energy. You simply can’t help yourself. In the words of the song: “Every step you take…” Every word you utter screams in full animation the sensual tones of divine sexual expression. There is no way to get away from it or its consuming scent. You are the walking embodiment of god humanly expressed. This indescribable fragrant sacred energy, of which we all possess, never ages or diminishes. It remains constant and vibrant throughout our entire life. To deny its fullest expression of creative activity causes us all sorts of problems.
People tend to barricade sexual energy in the most limited of forms. They usually define it as ‘making love’ which of course it is. But, sexual energy does not end in the bedroom. It travels wide and far! In every encounter imaginable, you are expressing and using divine sexual energy. How can it possibly be a separate part of you? If you smile, it’s there. If you raise your voice, it’s there. If you consume a delicious meal, it’s there. When you actively engage in your chosen field of work, it’s there. When you read a book, it’s there. When you smell a flower, look at a sunset, tell someone you care, it’s there. When you work on a problem to solve, it’s there. It rules you and everything you do because it is none other than the unmistakable omnificent Divine Creative force of the universe. Nothing exists without it. Nothing! You move, breathe and have your being in it. There is no doubt that it has been interpreted and distorted, twisted, deformed, disfigured, sublimated, subverted and denied but it is still remains untouched, unblemished: strong and pure, innocent. If the words: “Make love to God and to life” causes you to flinch, maybe you need to broaden your horizons and expand your mind’s parameters concerning this divine fragrant sacred energy. To live reverently involves passion. In order to evoke passion, you must recognize and embrace your own divine expression of god’s magnificent energy flowing through you. This awe-inspiring life giving power remains true in you while you are busily resisting, rebelling, defending, or justifying its immobile expression. It pulsates patiently and unceasingly in you while the rest of your pitiful unexpressed existence corrodes away.
Isn’t it time you wake up to what’s actually going on in your personal life? When’s the last time you walked on freshly mowed grass barefoot? Or walked in the glow of an unexpected shower of rain? Or laughed uncontrollably with a group of children? How did it make you feel? What fragrance did you smell? Are you aware of the many exhilarating scents held within the burst of dawn’s intoxicating air? What about the times when you caressed a new born infant next to your skin? Can you envelop the overwhelming sense of serenity and incomparable peace that passes all understanding associated in the embrace? Have you filtered a handful of invigorating dirt in your palms lately? Did you not bathe in the open naturalness of mud as a child? There are wonderful scented memories etched forever in the cradle of desire of your subconscious. Everywhere you look everything you see, feel, hear or touch is saturated by, through and with the scent of Divine Grace, gratitude and awe-inspiring reverence. What does fragrance have to do with anything? EVERYTHING! Just every conceivable thought you have ever had, have, or ever will have, that’s all. Take a full deep breath and smell your life; it’s miraculously unbelievably fragrant.
