Do you know the difference between training and working out?
Training is when you have a progressive plan with measurable goals and continual challenges. Working out is anything that makes you sweaty and tired but not necessarily better because it lacks consistency, direction and specificity.
Exercise is movement of the body through action or effort.
Training is the process of learning , preparation for a specific goal (ie: muscle gain, balance/flexibility, fat loss).
Exercise is movement without purpose; motion without direction.
Training is powered by an inspired vision: “I feel strong, fit and alive!”
Most people spend so much time exercising without direction or purpose that their efforts are often wasted. You can find exercises and workouts anywhere - pinterest, facebook, twitter. The issue us that they are just random, unfocused workouts that may or may not benefit you and your goals.
Examples of exercise that are not training -
A Latin Dance session that suggests it is great for weight loss, the Barbell class set to timed music, kickboxing sessions, bootcamp classes, basically any method that promotes an outcome without having a plan for Nutrition, that does not cover ALL the components of Fitness (flexibility, mobility, stamina, strength, power, balance, core) and that does not have expert regressions and progressions available.
Understanding the difference between doing random things to attempt and achieve a goal and TRAINING which is an actual plan with reason, focus and direction towards specific outcomes is a transformative experience.
Exercise is important and is an important part of reaching a goal, however, if it is all that you are doing then you will spend much of your effort in a futile attempt at reaching your goal.
A clear example of exercise vs. training can be found in driving.
Get in your car and begin driving. It does not matter where, just go!
Now, get in your car with a specific, desired endpoint. Put on your GPS, and it points you step by step to your desired destination.
Driving = exercise. Driving with a GPS to a destination = TRAINING.
STOP wasting your time and energy exercising. START spending your time training.
I have been very fortunate in life. Having been involved in the fitness industry for 20 years, I have had the opportunity to work one on one with 1000's of clients and certify 1000's of Personal Trainers. During the time I spent travelling the country from health club to health club I became increasingly frustrated at the poor standards in our industry. We understand that making a decision where to work out is difficult. Will I like the other members? Will I really stick with it this time? Will the staff appreciate my business after the sale? These are fair questions that can only be answered by coming in to experience the supportive, encouraging, and educational and results driven environment that we have created. It's hard to hide bad service, poor staff or a lack of knowledge face-to-face. We are proud of what we do here and feel that if we're given a chance you'll want to be one of our "Achievers".
Innovation Fitness has been servicing clients in this community for a number of years and are proud to be a locally owned and operated business. We are one of the more expensive gyms in town. This is by choice. Poor service, poor staff and poor member results are all part of being a cheaply priced facility. To our way of doing business, you can't be the best and the cheapest at the same time. This also means that our gym is not for everyone.
