The Diet Epidemic; The best diet is a healthy eating plan

See also

Many people struggle to understand the difference between dieting and paying attention to their diet.

Difficulties in learning what to eat to lose weight:

The best diet is simply a healthy eating plan. Because the food and medical industries change so rapidly, it is difficult to stay abreast of the most current discoveries. Even while practicing good habits, it seems that 'new findings' lurk right around the corner to interrupt our most recent routines.

In the 80’s and 90’s I fell prey to many popular trends: low-fat, no-fat, reduced carbs, cabbage soup, grapefruit, etc. I was a young woman addressing body image, so of course, I incorporated and practiced my share of bad eating habits. Now having reached my mid-forties, I experience difficulty with weight loss - you know what I mean ladies! –as I struggle with belly fat. Most American’s are asking the same multi-billion dollar question: How do we eat good when the majority of our food sources are bad?

Healthy Eating Plans to consider:

We all know the One-Size-Fits-All diet does not exist. In my experience, beneficial tips and tools can be extracted from various diet theories. The first diet plan I ever tried on was The Zone diet. A gym trainer introduced me to the plan and I learned to portion carbs, proteins, and fats while recognizing how different foods affected my particular body type.

Twenty years, and nearly twenty pounds later, I became acquainted with The South Beach diet. My stepmother, while under medical supervision, began a cycle of hCG to curb her sugar cravings. She was then instructed to find a high protein / low carb diet and discovered South Beach. Dr. Agatston encourages sugar free eating as a lifestyle along with the importance of reading labels to avoid hidden sugars.
