The demonization of fundamental Christians: Part Two

Although a number of American’s believed G.W. Bush to be a Christian, his response to one reporters question bore witness to his true spirit. During the 2000 election campaign, while on a visit to an aircraft assembly plant near Seattle Washington, Bush was asked by a reporter from Texas whether he was concerned that his free trade policies with China might hurt his public image with Christian voters.
Bush replied: “You only think that because you live around those whackos.” The hypocritical pot does indeed call the kettle black.

The next year, an attack upon the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, gave Bush pretext for further clamping down upon civil liberties and gave him a profitable war to boot. The revelation of the truth of what actually happened on that date has done little to persuade a lazy American public from connecting the dots. They believe whatever the television tells them to believe. The facts be damned. 

As the war has progressed, America saw the inauguration of a new President. With the new President have come new opportunities to further erode civil liberties in the name of making America safe from terror. Although the opportunities are new, the suspicion cast by the latest installment in the war on terror rests upon the usual suspects. At the forefront of the lineup is “radical” Christianity. The latest group of villains are called the Hutaree.

In March of 2010, several individuals alleged to be members of this group were arrested, charged with planning to kill police officers in an attempt to foment civil war against the government. Although no evidence has been presented to support this contention, it has been reported that an informant working for the Federal Government supplied the information leading to the arrests.

The groups website makes no mention of any plan to take violent action and instead, references scripture which indicates that they were preparing to defend themselves against the one Christians call “the Antichrist.” Although it has been reported that they have planned to assault law enforcement officers upon any discovery and action by police, no such action was taken and they surrendered without having fired a shot at officers.

The charge that these individuals now face is conspiracy to wage war against the U.S. Government. News of these indictments came after a grand jury indictment order had been officially unsealed in Michigan—specifically in Michigan's U.S. District Court (located in the state's eastern district).

We see in the American mainstream media, reports of groups claiming to be Christian who are involved in odious behavior. Reports of the picketing of funerals by nutcakes like the Westboro Baptist Church further tarnish the public image of believers in the minds of many.

In September of 2006, radical Lesbian Atheist Rosie O'Donnell jumped on the Christian bashing bandwagon, proclaiming that "Radical Christians are as Dangerous as Radical Islamists" 

CIA Director Leon Panetta has played up the notion that any American could be a terrorist despite the lack of membership in any recognized terrorist organization. “It’s the lone-wolf strategy that I think we have to pay attention to as the main threat to this country.”  Although the attention has so far focussed only upon Muslim Americans, it is only a short step to add Christians to this group of suspected terrorists. So called "right-wing Christian fundamentalists" are already being compared with terrorists.

In Burlington Township, New Jersey, local police worked hand in glove with school Superintendent, Chris Manno, to concoct a “terror” scenario, in which Christians were engaged in a shooting spree. When asked why Christians were used as the bad guys, Manno said: "You perform as you practice, we need to practice under conditions as real as possible in order to evaluate our procedures and plans so that they're as effective as possible."  And so, the idea that Christians would be responsible for a “terrorist act” were considered to be a “real” scenario.

The Bible makes mention of martyrdom of Christians for their testimony of Jesus Christ:

Revelation 6:9:

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held

Christianity is indeed dangerous. 

Prepare your hearts for what is to come.
