TAMPA - The Delta Swamp Rats will be holding a CD release party for their debut CD this Saturday, August 2nd at Skippers Smokehouse. The new CD, Rolling and Tumbling, is a live album that was recorded at the Hideaway Café in St. Petersburg.
Based out of Sarasota, The Delta Swamp Rats was formed in 2012 by Chicago blues veteran, Steve Arvey. The blues trio consists of Ernie Locke (vocals/harp), Steve Arvey (guitar/vocals), and Aaron Fowler (drums).
Since their formation two years ago, The Delta Swamp Rats have managed to garner quite a bit of momentum. On September 23rd, 2013, the trio won the Suncoast Blues Society's "Suncoast Blues Challenge" (solo/duo category) held at Ace's Live in Bradenton. By winning the competition, the band earned the right to represent the Suncoast Blues Society in the "International Blues Challenge" that was held by The Blues Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee the following January.
Saturday's up-coming CD release party will also feature a performance by Tangled Mangos, an island-based funk reggae duo based out of Bradenton Beach. Founded in 2012, the duo consists of Kyle Shell (lead vocals & harmonies), and "Barefoot" Dan Ryan (Hammond B-3 organ & piano).
Tickets for the event are $10.00 in advance or $13.00 the day of the show. Admission to the event will also include a copy of the Rolling and Tumbling CD. Show starts at 8:00pm. Skippers Smokehouse is located at 910 Skipper Road in Tampa.
