The Deadliest Gun, an epic Western, is the newest screenplay creation of veteran Arizona resident SAG actor Ricardo Andres and his wife and writing partner Rhonda Hooks-Andres. It is in development for filming. Filled with all the action and drama of the West during the Civil War, The Deadliest Gun is a story centered around two teen-aged sisters, Sarah and Katie, whose family has left war ravaged Virginia in 1864 to make a new life in California. Arriving in Arizona, their family is ambushed and murdered by a renegade Union army troop from a nearby outpost, leaving the two sisters to escape to a nearby frontier town. There in the town the two sisters are taken in and cared for by a woman named Catherine, and they begin to make many new friends, while they plan to avenge their family's deaths.
The Deadliest Gun differs from other Western films. Its central characters are females, and they are powerful, not weak. The audience sees throughout the story how vengeance is misplaced, and that evil never triumphs.
The film's director, Michael Walters, stated, "I had never dreamed of directing a Western feature, but I fell in love with this script when Ricardo presented it to me. The story is rich, complex, with some beautiful and unexpected twists. Having daughters and granddaughters of my own, I feel with the development that takes place in these two young girls' lives. The script reels the audience in and before you know it you feel you are a part of this Arizona town."
Ricardo Andres who is both producer and an actor in the role of Hiram Bledsoe, Sarah's and Katie's father, says, "I have always wanted to film in Texas...Michael Walters and I are currently writing budgets and business plans. We are location scouting and have located several ideal film sets near San Antonio. We are looking for ideal actors for this film. For budget reasons we will be giving preference to the best of the best in Texas actors. Most of the characters are young, under 40 years old. We already are looking at both well-known actors for key roles and other up and coming actors for supporting roles for this film. The producer team is going to demand realism of look from the actors. For instance people were typically much smaller then. So we are limiting male roles to have no more than a 34 inch waist and women to be no more than a size 12."
Andres continues, "We are already excited to have great support on Facebook and we are looking forward soon to have the movie posted on IMDb. I began writing The Deadliest Gun two years ago as a small Independent film for Arizona. The film and it’s popularity have become very big, and we have a large number of die-hard Western fans waiting for this unique and colorfully dramatic epic. We look forward to this number growing."
The producers are beginning the process of talking with potential investors and have not set any general dates for principal photography.
