The days after Easter should be full of service and praise

Did you ever own a "WWJD" (What Would Jesus Do) bracelet?

People would wear the bracelet and then when they were perplexed or confused by a situation or issue, they would ask themselves: "What would Jesus do?"

If you are modeling your behavior after Jesus, it's a great question. The problem is the answer to the question may turn into an intellectual debate and fail to trigger any action.

Here's a scriptural example. You have probably heard and/or read the following sentence found in Hebrews 13:8:

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and for ever." (21st Century King James Version)

What a delightful truth! Jesus is constant and dependable regardless of whether we are strong or in an emotional puddle.

But the deeper significance of this verse is found in the seven verses that precede verse 8 and the 17 verses that follow it. The author of Hebrews is encouraging the readers of this biblical letter to "let brotherly love continue" (verse 1).

We are encouraged to help strangers, pray for prisoners, be honorable in marriage, show confidence in our leaders, and live within our means. We need the attitude of gratitude expressed in verses 15 and 16 of Hebrews 13:

"Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." (New International Version)

Can you imagine what would happen if everyone served others and praised God every day after Easter until Jesus Christ returned?
