The Darlings Jason Cruz & Howl Hoist The Colors and Amigo at Soda Bar

A great night of rock and roll... Slabratory Clothing continued its long string of solid shows as it presented The Darlings, Jason Cruz and Howl, Hoist The Colors, and Amigo at Soda Bar in San Diego February 8, 2014.

The Darlings Jason Cruz & Howl, Hoist the Colors, & Amigo @ Soda Bar

Headliner The Darlings have been making a name for themselves the last couple of years with regular rotation on their hometown radio station KROQ in Los Angeles, and a number of high profile song licensing opportunities. As well, the band has been bringing their energetic live show to stages around Southern California, as well as a tour to Japan. Their crowd pleasing performance at Soda Bar on Saturday was a great way to end an amazing night full great music. Video of the Darlings from the show is embedded above.

Jason Cruz and Howl was direct support for The Darlings featuring Strung Out lead singer Jason Cruz and Buddy Darling of The Darlings. Their two-man show of acoustic and electric guitar with gritty harmonies to go with the epic vocals of Jason Cruz certainly lives up to their self described genre of 'Lounge Core'. Both Cruz and Darling were dressed to impress with shirt and tie, and there were plenty of lovely ladies in the crowd fawning over every song. Check out video from the show here:

Hoist the Colors was the second band of the night. Not your average rock band, their blend of Alternative, Irish, and so many other kinds of music makes for great entertainment whenever they take the stage. Acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo and great vocals all contribute to a unique sound anyone can dance to. Check out some video of Hoist The Colors @Soda Bar:

San Diego's own Amigo opened up the night. For a band formed not long ago, these guys have put together a solid play list of quality tunes. Quality vocals and shredding guitar are main features for this foursome. Still working on recording their first EP, the local music scene can expect big things from these guys in the near future.
