Our body needs carbohydrates to survive, the right types of carbohydrates that is. Eating the wrong type of carbohydrates can elevate blood sugar levels, in turn into sugar causing craving for more sugary goodies, and become a cycle that may end up with excess buildup of Candida, also known as Yeast!
What's so bad about yeast one might wonder? Candida, occurs naturally in the body, but when it over grows, can cause serious health risks, it normally lives in the mouth, throat, digestive tract, and genitals. However, if it burrows into the intestinal tract and makes holes, it can then enter the blood stream and progress to any part of the body to possibly release more than 70 toxins.
Diabetics and those with compromised immune systems are often affected, and often the culprits are sugary foods, breads, and the wrong kind of carbohydrates .Finding complex Carbohydrates that break down slowly, such as whole wheat products. Good carbs include green leafy vegetables, home cooked beans, nuts, seeds, sweet potatoes rather than white. Bad carbs break down fast and turn into sugar aka into glucose which feeds yeast problems. Bad carbs can be almost anything white and wrapped in plastic, such as white breads ,white rice, burger buns, pizza dough to name a few.
Now Candida feeds of sugar, and can cause cravings for more, how does one know if there is a problem to begin with and not an occasional want for a favorite treat?
Some symptoms of Candida are( not limited to, and from multiple Holistic sources and medical journals and online sites these were ones they all had in common, including the book "The Yeast Connection by William Crook"):
Abdominal gas and bloating, headaches, migraines, excessive fatigue, alcohol cravings, vaginitis, rectal itching, craving sweets, and inability to focus or brain fog that fuzzy headed feeling. Thrush, earaches, low sex drive, the list goes on.
Now there are some of the "known" problems of a yeast over growth, no test is 100 percent effective, most specialists advised going by symptoms but there is a simple test, again not 100 percent accurate, called the spit test. Before you go to bed, fill a clear glass with plain bottled ( not tap) water. Immediately in the morning, before you do anything, do not eat or drink, spit into the glass of water.
Now, watch your spit in the glass for the next 15 minutes to see what it does .If you see any of these results, advocates stress there is presence of a colony of yeast build up:
The spit stays at the top and develops strands that look like spider legs, or stings extending downward
The saliva floats to the bottom and looks cloudy
The saliva is suspended in midair like specs floating
Now what? The key is to get a good Probiotic, some people take prescription medications such as Nystatin and Difllucan, which carry some side effects. There are many types of Probiotics out there including Probio5.
The focus of this article was to inform about the real risks of Candida, and causes, and how to get rid of it. Preventing it from coming back is a matter of eating right, and there are many good Candida Diets out there and being proactive in the treatment to eliminate regrowth.
