The CW passes on 'Supernatural' spin-off 'Bloodlines'

The CW announced yesterday, May 9, that the back door pilot that aired on "Supernatural" in April did not make the cut this coming 2014-2015 television season. "Supernatural: Bloodlines" formerly titled "Supernatural: Tribes" has been passed on by The CW.

The reason given was that it received a lukewarm reception. But, the idea of future spin offs are not gone yet according to The CW executives.

"Bloodlines" was described as a "sweeping drama about the various mafia-esque monster families that unknowingly to humans “run” the underbelly of Chicago and who are being tracked by a newly minted Hunter who’s trying to stop them and rid Chicago of anything or anyone supernatural."

Nathaniel Busolic, of "The Originals" fame, played the role of David Hayden. He was described "a shapeshifter from one of the ruling monster families. He had given up his monster life years ago and has been living human."

The backdoor pilot that aired on April 29 gave fans a look at hunters and monsters in the Chicago area. The show was described as being a mobster type show but it turned out to be really shortcoming in believable characters. The show actually introduced a half dozen new characters with many of them feeling as if they were fillers for the episode. But, it just didn't make the loyal fans of "Supernatural" impressed.

"Supernatural" is set to begin its tenth season this fall and the executives are not giving up on a potential spin off. Many fans are hoping for a Men of Letters spin off or even an angels and demon based show.

But, The CW also shocked fans with cancelling "The Carrie Diaries", "Star-Crossed", and "The Tomorrow People" all yesterday but leaving "Hart of Dixie", "Beauty and the Beast", and "The 100".
