Deadline has reported that the CW has yet to lasso the Wonder Woman pilot entitled Amazon, but there's still the chance it might get picked up.
"We're waiting to see the script, and we're busy casting Diana" CW President Mark Pedowitz stated to The Hollywood Reporter at the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour two weeks ago. "Hopefully the script works the way we want."
Similar to the footsteps of Smallville (Clark Kent spent 10 years of becoming the Man of Steel known as Superman) and Arrow (as in Green Arrow, but for now, billionaire Oliver Queen is righting wrongs as the vigilante known as "the Hood"), Amazon follows the early years of Diana of Themyscira, and her trials and tribulations of becoming a superhero.
Amazon is the second attempt to bring back Wonder Woman on the small screen since David E. Kelley's 2011 pilot for NBC, where Diana Prince was living a triple life -- including a businesswoman and a vigilante. Though she wasn't picked up as a series, Wonder Woman debuted (sort of) last year on a episode of Kelley's short-lived legal comedy-drama Harry's Law with Smallville alumni Erica Durance as a defendant who took the law into her hands by dressing up as Wonder Woman: dispensing justice on behalf of domestic abuse victims such as herself.
For many, though, Lynda Carter remains television's true blue Wonder Woman.
