The CW has announced some of their series that are safe from the chopping block. Although, early renewal is a bit uncommon the network is confident with it's decision to keep the following shows; The Vampire Diaries gets a season 6 and Arrow will be having a season 3. Also, Supernatural will be getting a season 10, which doesn't come as a surprise since back in January the network president Mark Pedowitz commented on the sci-fi series stating “As a fan of the show, who’s seen every episode, as long as I’m here and those [ratings] still hold, God bless them,” said Pedowitz. “They can go as long as they want.”
The station has picked up two of its' newest series The Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals and historic drama Reign. President Mark Pedowitz made an official statement regrading the early pickups, “This season we’ve had great success with our new hit series The Originals paired with Supernatural, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years, said Pedowitz. “The Vampire Diaries is No. 2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with Arrow continuing to gain among young men, and Reign growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I’m very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they’ll have more great drama to look forward to next season.”
In May, networks announce their full list of renewals shows awaiting the green light include The Carrie Diaries, Hart of Dixie, The Tomorrow People and Beauty and the Beast. Besides the pickups, the CW has already planned to launch, in the fall, a new superhero series based on "The Flash".
