Stephen Amell has won the covet lead role in the CW pilot Arrow, a modern re-telling of DC Comics' Green Arrow.
Having similar traits of Bruce Wayne/Batman but following the pathos of Robin Hood, billionaire industrialist Oliver "Ollie" Queen fights the good fight against a system of corruption and injustice on behalf of the poor, oppressed, and the downtrodden.
Amell will be succeeding Justin Hartley, who played the Emerald Archer for five seasons on Smallville, which ended its 10-year run on the CW last May.
The actor made guest spots on The Vampire Diaries and Private Practice, and recently had a recurring role on HBO's now-defunct Hung.
